We carry only the freshest malt extract from a maltster in Scotland. Most malt extracts at mashed at 158-160 degrees because it is more cost effective. However, because of this high mashing temperature, most malt extract beers will have a high final gravity. (At high temperatures there are more unfermentable sugars present.) Our maltster mashes at a lower temperature, thus less unfermentable sugars which produces lower final gravities.
