Many homebrewers desire a light crisp blonde colored beer that they might "slam" down after work or play. Normally this would describe a pilsner. Pils style beers are lagers and require cold fermentation temperatures and two months. This beer is ready in the normal 35-40 days, is blonde, and is an ale. Voila!

British Ales are characterized by being balanced, which means that the malt and hops are balanced, as opposed to West Coast Pale Ales where the hops are predominant. Generally speaking, these ales will be hopped with varieties native to the British Isles; i.e. Fuggles, Kent Goldings, etc.
